Semi-Automated Combilift Parking at SpurWöhr Combilift 543 puzzle lift, 51 spaces, multifamily community near University of Washington
Spur takes its name from the decommissioned railroad spur line it sits at the end of, tucked between the Laurelhurst, Ravenna, and University District neighborhoods a quarter mile east of the University of Washington campus and steps from both University Village and the Burke-Gilman Trail. The six-story building brought 98 apartments and ground-floor retail to a site that previously held aging commercial structures. Parking lives below in a Wöhr Combilift 543, a three-level semi-automatic system where drivers always enter and exit at the middle tier — request a space from the control panel and the platforms shift and lift until the right one arrives at the access level, behind integrated sliding gates that stay closed until the platform is home. With 51 spaces handled underground, the ground floor stayed available for retail frontage along Union Bay Place instead of surrendering it to a drive aisle — the kind of trade that makes a tight urban infill site pencil.
